Madeira Beach Club Condo Project

PROJECT DETAILS

Case Study: Refreshing a Stained and Unappealing Condo Floor at Madeira Beach Club

This project shows how a new flooring system can completely change the appearance of an existing concrete surface. At Madeira Beach Club, the 3,276-square-foot area had visible staining and an overall look that felt worn, dated, and unappealing.

Instead of leaving the existing concrete exposed, the customer chose to give the space a new finished surface with the Stonehenge flooring system. The goal was to move away from the stained appearance and create a floor that felt cleaner, more intentional, and better suited to the property.

The Challenge: Stained Concrete That Made the Space Feel Worn

Concrete can develop stains and discoloration over time, changing the appearance of an otherwise usable space. For this Madeira Beach Club project, the existing 3,276-square-foot surface had accumulated staining that left the concrete looking worn and unfinished. The issue was not simply that the floor was an older color—the visible condition of the surface affected the overall appearance of the space.

When the goal is to create a more polished environment, stains can become difficult to overlook. Instead of blending into the background, the concrete can become one of the first things you notice when entering the area. The customer wanted to move away from that appearance and create a finished floor that would give the space a more updated look.

The Solution: Replacing the Stained Appearance With Stonehenge

To address the existing appearance, Tru-Grit installed the Stonehenge flooring system across the 3,276-square-foot project.

Stonehenge provided a decorative finish with more visual character than the stained concrete that was there previously. Rather than trying to work around the existing discoloration, the new flooring created an entirely different surface and overall look. This allowed the flooring itself to become part of the finished design instead of leaving the existing stained concrete as a noticeable feature.

The Process: Preparing the Existing Concrete for a New Finish

A successful flooring installation begins with the condition of the surface underneath it.

The existing concrete was prepared before the new flooring system was installed, providing the foundation needed for the Stonehenge finish. Proper preparation is especially important when working over an existing surface with visible wear and staining because the new system needs a properly prepared substrate rather than simply covering an untreated slab.

Once the concrete was prepared, the Stonehenge flooring system was installed across the 3,276-square-foot area. Carrying the same finish throughout the project helped create a consistent appearance rather than allowing the existing condition of the concrete to dictate the finished look.

Why Updating Stained Concrete Can Make Such a Difference

Staining can change how an entire space feels.

Even when concrete is structurally usable, discoloration and an unfinished appearance can make the area feel neglected or dated. Those visual issues become even more noticeable across a larger surface where there is nowhere for the eye to avoid them.

Updating the flooring gives homeowners and property owners a way to address that problem at the surface level. Instead of continuing to see stains, discoloration, and the inconsistencies of the existing concrete, the space can have one intentional finished surface.

For this project, the change was not about simply putting a different color over the floor. It was about replacing an appearance that no longer worked for the space.

The Outcome: A Completely Refreshed Flooring Surface

The completed Madeira Beach Club project transformed the appearance of 3,276 square feet of stained, unappealing concrete with a new Stonehenge flooring finish. The updated surface gives the space a cleaner and more finished appearance while adding decorative character that was missing from the original concrete.

What was once a stained and visually tired surface is now covered by a flooring system that gives the area a more deliberate, updated look and changes the way the entire space presents.
