Anthony Project

Stonehenge Polyaspartic Pool Deck Resurfacing

PROJECT DETAILS

Case Study: Resurfacing a Deeply Cracked Pool Deck in St. Cloud, Florida

The Anthony project involved resurfacing a 1,174-square-foot pool deck in St. Cloud, Florida, where deep cracks had developed throughout the existing concrete. As the condition of the surface became more noticeable, the pool deck began to look worn and detracted from the overall appearance of the outdoor area.

To give the space a fresh start, Tru-Grit repaired the existing cracks as part of the resurfacing work before applying a new Stonehenge finish. The goal was to improve the condition of the concrete while creating a more finished and cohesive appearance around the pool.

The Challenge: Deep Cracks Taking Away From the Pool Area

A pool deck is one of the most visible parts of an outdoor living space, so cracks across the concrete can quickly change the way the entire area looks. On the Anthony project, deep cracking had developed across the existing 1,174-square-foot deck, leaving the surface looking aged and unfinished.

The customer wanted more than a cosmetic change. The existing cracks needed to be addressed before the new surface was installed so the finished pool deck would not simply leave the original condition showing through.

The Solution: Crack Repair and Stonehenge Resurfacing

Tru-Grit repaired the deep cracks throughout the existing pool deck as part of the resurfacing project. Addressing those areas first helped prepare the concrete for the new surface instead of simply covering over the existing damage.

Once the crack repair was completed, the pool deck was resurfaced in the Stonehenge color. The new finish gave the area more visual character while creating a consistent surface across the full project.

The Process: Repairing the Concrete Before Resurfacing

pool deck, the 1,174-square-foot surface was prepared to address the deep cracking throughout the existing slab and create a suitable foundation for the new flooring system.

The deep cracks were repaired as part of the preparation process, addressing the existing surface before the new finish was installed. Once the concrete was properly prepared, a Moisture Vapor Barrier was incorporated into the flooring system to help address potential moisture vapor coming through the slab. This was an important part of the installation because the pool deck is exposed to Florida's moisture and weather conditions.

With the concrete prepared, the cracks repaired, and the Moisture Vapor Barrier in place, the Stonehenge finish was applied across the full pool deck. Carrying the same finish throughout the project created a consistent surface around the pool and gave the previously cracked and worn concrete a more cohesive, finished appearance.

Why Crack Repair Matters in a Resurfacing Project

When cracks are already a major feature of an aging pool deck, simply applying a new finish does not address the underlying condition. Crack repair is an important part of preparing the existing concrete so the resurfaced area has a cleaner starting point.

For the Anthony project, repairing the damaged areas helped move the pool deck away from the heavily cracked appearance it had before while allowing the new Stonehenge finish to become the focus of the space.

The Outcome: A Refreshed Pool Deck With a New Look

The completed Anthony project combined crack repair and resurfacing to update 1,174 square feet of deeply cracked pool deck concrete in St. Cloud, Florida.

The Stonehenge finish gave the pool area a more cohesive and updated appearance, while addressing the existing cracks helped improve the overall condition of the surface before the new finish was applied.
